Ohio has become a special place for me because so many friends of mine now work there. The cafe is owned by a nice American ex-pat who wisely imported the "american"-style coffee shop model (counter service, relaxed atmosphere). And since I live in Cuvrystr., a street that intersects with schlesi forming the corner closest to the cafe, it's very convenient for me to stop by and say hello to my beautiful friends while they work. The coffee is tasty and bold, and I enjoy drinking it at the counter where you can have a nice chat with Alex while he concocts delicious cakes and savory snacks. There isn't a bulletin board for posting announcements but at the counter you have a raggedy selection of newspapers, magazines and postcards to choose from should you feel like reading. The music is generally good, it depends on who's working. The bathrooms are roomy and private and decorated with more kitsch and humour than the rest of the cafe, which is quite sober but comfortable. Unlike many Berlin cafes, you don't feel pushed into a certain aesthetic. |
